Lazio to Honour Ciro Immobile’s All-Time Club Goalscoring Record

Ciro Immobile’s record 159th goal for Lazio in the club’s 2-2 draw with Atalanta on the weekend allowed him to level terms with Silvio Piola as the club’s greatest ever goalscorer in history. The Italian striker has the chance to overtake the record in Lazio’s Europa League encounter at Marseillle or at the Stadio Olimpico against Salernitana at the weekend.

According to reports from Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), the Biancocelesti are planning to hold an award ceremony for the 31-year-old forward at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

Immobile, who is also the club captain, is thinking of a special event to celebrate with the whole team – just like he did when he won the European Golden Boot in 2019/20 with 36 goals, beating Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to the award.

On that occasion, he gave everyone in the team a special jersey with a message attached for their involvement in his accomplishment.

Immobile has the best goals per match ratio with 0.69 in Lazio’s history with his 159 goals from 232 matches – also the club’s best ever minutes per goal ratio of a goal every 119 minutes.

He just needs one more goal to overtake Silvio Piola’s record of 159 goals from 243 matches.
