Mike Maignan is itching to get back on the field, with the Milan custodian having been ruled out for a whole month following a calf injury sustained during France’s 2-0 win over Austria a week before the end of September.

Speaking to Sky Sport (via MilanNews) in an exclusive interview, Maignan expressed his intention to get back into the starting line-up at the earliest. He hopes to be back for the game against Monza at the weekend.

“Every day I am at Milanello to work, I hope to be well for the match against Monza but we still have to see with the doctor and coach if I am 100% ready,” he revealed.

Maignan revealed he wanted to get back to playing ways when the Rossoneri played Hellas Verona in the 2-1 away win last matchday.

“It’s true, I told the coach and the doctor that I wanted to play from the first but this injury is dangerous and I listened to them who knew more than me and I stopped to work and get back ready”.

He also expressed his happiness on finishing 25th in the Ballon D’Or rankings.

“It’s nice because it’s the first time; I’m proud of this and even more so for my teammates, for the family that is always with me. This place means that we did a good job and that we have to work even harder.”

The Frenchman is expected to return between the posts either against Monza on October 22 or against Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.
