Lazio Forward Pedro Reveals Reason Behind Barcelona Departure

Lazio attacker Pedro has revealed why he left Barcelona in the summer of 2015 for his first experience outside the club, having grown through the ranks at La Masia. The 35-year-old forward decided to turn the page seven years ago, first joining Chelsea, before moving to Roma and then heading to eternal rivals Lazio, where he is currently enjoying game time under manager Maurizio Sarri with whom he won the Europa League in 2018/19.

As reported by FutbolRed (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Spaniard has revealed why he decided to part ways with his boyhood club.

“It would have been easier to stay and keep winning, but it was time to try new experiences elsewhere.”

According to the striker, he never felt at the center Barcelona’s project under then manager Luis Enrique. However, his affection for the Blaugrana remains strong.

Pedro is currently plying his second campaign in the Biancocelesti colors, looking relatively comfortable in the sky-blue colors than the maroon-red of Roma.
