€60k Per Minute Stat Warrants Pogba Contract Review for Juventus

Juventus were dealt a scare earlier in the week after Paul Pogba limped out of the 2-0 win over Empoli, which birthed fears of yet another injury layoff for the Frenchman. However, latest reports after medical examinations indicate that it was nothing more than a tiny pull that he felt in his right thigh. The ex-Manchester United midfielder, following the minor setback, is now the subject of contract re-discussion.

As per the latest Calciomercato information, new sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli wishes to renegotiate the terms of the agreement surrounding the player with his agent, Rafaela Pimenta. Pogba signed earlier last season, way before the arrival of Giuntoli. The ex-Napoli director believes the World Cup winner’s package warrants a review based on the player’s performances.

Pogba is contracted until June 2025 and bags €8M net per season, excluding bonuses, in Turin. This makes him the highest earner in Max Allegri’s 24-man squad.

Giuntoli is expected to execute one of the two possibilities – the first is to ask Pogba to take a salary cut for a longer duration deal, and the second a deal based on performance-related pay.

Pogba has made just 12 appearances for the Bianconeri since signing from the Red Devils a year ago. Registering just 213 minutes in total game time so far remarkably means Pogba has cost Juventus over €60k per minute so far.
