Tottenham Mulling Coaching Change, Show Interest in Conte

Manchester United are not the only Premier League club eyeing Antonio Conte. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bought himself some time thanks to the recent win over Tottenham. The Spurs are now considering making a coaching change and have reached out to the Italian gaffer, Sky Sport reports.

Conte was their top choice in the summer too. However, he turned down the offer, which came shortly after his abrupt departure from Inter. He is keener on accepting now. After a long search, Tottenham hired former Wolverhampton manager Nuno Espirito Santo. They have gotten off to a slow start as they have collected five wins and five losses and are in eighth position in the standings.

The Spurs board is expected to decide later today. They will test the waters on other candidates too. As always, Conte demands an important technical and economic project before joining a team. Tottenham could guarantee him a multi-year contract and substantial reinforcements starting from the January window, the publication adds.

On the other hand, Conte may opt to wait to see whether the more alluring bench of the Red Devils could still open up. He is already familiar with Tottenham’s managing director of Fabio Paratici. The two spent a few years together at Juventus, winning four titles in a row. The Italian gaffer has never taken over a team mid-season in the last decade. However, he appears ready to compromise to return to the Premier League in the ongoing campaign. Newcastle pursued him as well but to no avail.
