As heavily rumored, Stefano Pioli will soon ink a new contract. Instead, it will probably take a little more time to come to terms with Alessio Romagnoli, but things are headed in that direction. Barring a major injury, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will stick around too, with an extension coming in early 2022. But Milan will not stop there and are looking to lock up three of their linchpins.
The Rossoneri aim to prolong the deals of Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez, and Ismael Bennacer by the end of the year. They all have relatively low salaries related to their importance to the team. Their next contracts will run through 2026, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
The three players are all making around €1.5M per year. Milan plan to raise their salaries to €4M plus add-ons. Their entourages will ask for a little more in some instances. But the negotiations are set to be smooth. There is a mutual desire to continue together.
Leao was reportedly available for a good offer last summer, but he has turned things around. Hernandez drew interest in particular from PSG, but Milan did not even sit down to discuss the price tag. Bennacer has remained a crucial cog in the midfield despite the rise of Sandro Tonali.
On the other hand, the pessimism continues to mount on the Frack Kessié’s front. According to Foot Mercato, his agent George Atangana has met with PSG multiple times. Moreover, the midfielder has put his Milan home up for sale.
