Dybala Unhappy with How Juventus Are Handling New Contract

The delays in wrapping up the extension have caused some friction between Paulo Dybala and Juventus. The parties were supposed to put pen-to-paper months ago after coming to terms, but that got continuously postponed for various reasons. To the point that the striker is reconsidering his stance about staying.

According to TyC Sport’s journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, the talks are on the verge of collapsing. Dybala was bothered by the fact that Juventus changed the conditions of the deal. He is now ready to listen to offers from other teams. The management recently suggested confirming his current €7M salary rather than increasing it, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri was asked about the rumor after the loss to Inter in the Supercoppa: “The front office takes care of contracts, not me. I am happy with Paulo. He did not start today because he had to recover some conditioning. We talked before the match.”

Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene discussed Dybala in the pre-game: “Who wears our no.10 must realize the weight that number has for us. What I said about him goes for everybody. I want to see character and grit.” In previous remarks, the director had stated: “We will sit down with those on expiring contracts in February, also to evaluate them. Everybody must earn their spot in the squad and prove their value. We will see how he fares in the next few matches. He is not a weak player, and we want to reach our objectives together.”
