Milan and Juventus Seen as Underdogs for Chelsea Defender

Andreas Christensen has landed on the radar of multiple big clubs, as he is expected to leave at the end of his expiring contract. Milan and Juventus are among them, but they are well behind in the race for the Chelsea defender. Barcelona have gained the lead over the rest of the pack, Spanish newspaper Sport reports.

According to the publication, the talks between the player’s entourage and the Blaugrana are very advanced. They have specialized in free agent signings in the last few windows. The 25-year-old has accumulated 21 appearances with the Blues so far this season. He has been a regular for the London outfit since 2017.

Milan and Juventus are monitoring the status of the Chelsea defender as they could have an opening at the position next summer. The Rossoneri are trying to bring in a new center-back in January already. But it is not a slam-dunk that they will manage to do it. They might have to settle for somebody on loan.

The Bianconeri are unsure whether Giorgio Chiellini will stick around for another full season. He is under contract until June 2023, but he might call it quits early if Italy did not qualify for the World Cup. In addition, Barcelona and other top teams are looming over Matthijs De Ligt.

Rather than Milan or Juventus, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid seem to be the more serious competitors to Barcelona in the race to lure Christensen away from Chelsea, AS informs. He reportedly does not want to join another Premier League side.
