Milan Have Potential Bargaining Chip to Help Signing Bremer

Mattia Caldara is experiencing a bounce-back season at Venezia, but he will likely head back to Milan in the summer. The Lagunari do not plan to pick up their €4M option to keep him. Avoiding relegation is obviously a prerequisite for it to happen, and they are currently in one of the last three positions.

The Rossoneri might keep the defender for depth purposes, but they have already received some inquiries for the future, Tuttomercatoweb informs. In particular, Torino have asked for the 27-year-old as they will most likely have to replace Bremer.

The Brazilian standout is one of the candidates to bolster the Milan defense, and Caldara might be part of the package to acquire him. According to Tuttosport, the Granata center-back is neck-and-neck with Sven Botman atop the Rossoneri’s shortlist. The terms of the transfers will sway them one way or the other.

Milan face intense competition for both targets, and Caldara could be a useful asset in the talks with Torino. Bremer is being pursued by Juventus and especially Inter. His team’s director recently suggested that he will not join the Bianconeri after playing for their crosstown rivals. La Beneamata approached him early and decisively.

Newcastle chased after Botman in January, and he is on the radar of bigger teams as well. The Rossoneri already have an agreement on personal terms in their pocket. However, Lille are stocking the bidding war. The Serie A club would make careful evaluations if his price tag increased too much.
