Milan Battling Premier League Giants to Sign Monaco Teenager

Milan have had success signing youngsters before they broke out and have set their sights on Mamadou Coulibaly. The 17-year-old currently plays with Monaco’s youth team. He has drawn comparisons with Eduardo Camavinga for his role, physique and style.

The Rossoneri are looking to replicate the positive outcome of the Pierre Kalulu acquisition. The defender was poached for a meager fee from Olympique Lyonnais. He turned into a reliable contributor in just a couple of seasons, and his price tag has ballooned.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are trying to bring in Coulibaly on a free transfer. He has yet to sign a pro contract with his current club and has not debuted in Ligue 1. Therefore, if he left, Monaco would receive just a training compensation.

The Rossoneri have scouted the starlet multiple times already, Calciomercato.com informs. Their directors believe he could grow into a technical box-to-box or a midfield maestro since he has a quality left foot. If things broke right, he could be a long-term prospect to replace Franck Kessié.

On the other hand, Milan are not the only ones chasing after Coulibaly. Tottenham and Manchester City have laid eyes on the young midfielder as well. Juventus have also expressed preliminary interest. He is expected to make a decision on his future and eventually pick a new team when he turns 18 in April, the two outlets inform. The Rossoneri will try to lure him in by proposing a multi-year plan for his growth.
