Inter welcome Fiorentina at the Giuseppe Meazza on the weekend – a team that has scored 214 league goals against the Nerazzurri in the top-flight. Since 2001, Inter have won 16 of their 19 Serie A home games against La Viola, but away coach Vincenzo Italiano is confident of his side’s ability to cause an upset at the home of the champions.
Speaking to Fiorentina Weekly (via FCInterNews), Italiano predicted what his team might face at the iconic Italian stadium.
“They will certainly be a different opponent than the last ones we faced. This is the home of the Italian champions and we must be aware that we are playing against the strongest.”
The Nerazzurri have experienced just one victory in their last five league matches, but the former Spezia manager is not underestimating his opponents.
“Inter have quality in all departments and a lot of physicality. We must try in every way to give little and be proactive,” he commented.
Italiano also had a small message for Viola chief Joe Barone.
“Mister, we have to win on Saturday against Inter! Tell the boys,” he said.
Fiorentina sit in 8th position, 13 points behind third-placed Inter, who have 59 points from 28 games.
