Liverpool star Mohamed Salah runs out of contract at Anfield at the end of next season and the Reds are yet to hold him down with an extension offer. As one of the best players in the world, reports of interest in the soon-to-be free agent from top clubs are not surprising.
Juventus have contacted the Egyptian’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa to determine whether a transfer deal is a real possibility this summer, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The ex-Roma man is demanding a a whopping salary figure, around the €12m net per season mark – something the Italian giants do not rule out.
The enigmatic Egyptian winger’s wage demands have proven to stall contract negotiations with Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group – believed to be in excess of €450,000 per week. Both the Premier League giants and the player have been in a contractual war regarding the figures at play.

In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, Salah spoke regarding his future at Anfield by putting the ball in Liverpool’s court.
“I want to stay, but it’s not in my hands. It’s in their hands. They know what I want. I’m not asking for crazy stuff.”
The Bianconeri have digested the fact that they will be losing one of their star players in outbound Paulo Dybala at the end of the current campaign and Salah arrival as La Joya’s replacement in Turin is touted to put things back in balance. Dybala’s departure will free up much needed space on the accounts of the club’s books after the club excluded him from future plans.
However, financial reasons could very well hamper the Bianconeri’s moves in the transfer market. The Egyptian currently earns €11-12m net per year at Anfield, and even by using a growth decree and the impending tax reduction from it, Juventus would still find it hard to outdo the wages they provide two of their top earners – Matthijs De Ligt and Dusan Vlahovic.

Moreover, the club is seeking to reduce its wage bill after being affected by financial losses due to the pandemic-related implications.
Having already piqued Juventus’ attention, Salah’s transfer cannot be ruled out. But La Vecchia Signora will first have to navigate through the complicated contractual concern between Liverpool and Salah.
The silky forward already has Serie A experience with Fiorentina and Roma, but it remains to be seen whether a return to Italy would be his preference if he does part ways with the Reds at the end of his contract.
