Milan Mulling Finding Some Help in the Transfer Market

Milan have had a terrible start of 2023, and their issues culminated in the large loss versus Inter in the Supercoppa. The brass opted against making significant acquisitions in January, but their position might change in light of their difficulties, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

The Rossoneri have lacked intensity in the first few games after the break. They nipped Salernitana, collapsed late versus Roma, lost in Coppa Italia against Torino, and drew 2-2 in the Lecce game after going down two-nil in the score. They have tied the longest streak of winless fixtures since Stefano Pioli took over.

Milan already have a deep roster, but they don’t have reliable backups to their starters. Divock Origi and Charles De Ketelaere were once again non-factors in Riyadh. Aster Vranckx and Yacine Adli have gotten very little playing time.

The Rossoneri would have to trim their squad before onboarding somebody else. They’d prefer keeping the ex-Bordeaux youngster, but he might go out on loan to make room. Tiemoué Bakayoko has been on the chopping block for multiple windows, but that wouldn’t move the needle much.

If they revised their stance, they would look for a more reliable backup goalie, a no.9, and a right winger that would be better of Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias, the outlet speculates.

Our Take on Milan

They’ll most likely have to find the way out of their funk from within. If they were to complete a signing, only a proven and experienced champion could really contribute to lifting them. Considering their needs and previous rumors, it wouldn’t be surprising if Hakim Ziyech resurfaced.
