Lazio Not Particularly Close to Landing Sassuolo Star

Lazio are keen on Domenico Berardi as they’ll look to reinforce the squad following their return to the Champions League. However, the negotiation to acquire him is in its early stages. The player wouldn’t mind transferring to a side that plays in the cups, but there’s nothing advanced at the moment.

According to Alfredo Pedullà, Sassuolo hope nobody comes forward, as they fear losing their ace this summer. At this stage, there hasn’t been any direct contact between the two sides. The Biancocelesti haven’t gotten in touch with the entourage of the player either.

Lazio are aware that it’ll take a €20M offer plus a youngster to sign Berardi. They haven’t taken concrete steps to do it yet. Surely, coach Maurizio Sarri is a fan of the winger and would be happy to bring him in. The capital side is expected to add one or two new pieces to its frontline.

According to Leggo, Sassuolo could settle for a little less if the fee was settled through a lump payment. Matteo Cancellieri could be part of the package. In the meantime, the Biancocelesti are doing some legwork to purchase Arkadiusz Milik.

Juventus didn’t pick up their €7M option to buy, which lapsed on June 10th. They’ll try to renegotiate the terms with Olympique Marseille. However, they will face competition from other sides. The conditions will be the same for every suitor now.

Our Take on Lazio and Berardi

The Biancocelesti and Napoli would be apt landing spots for the attacker. However, his wages aren’t that low even though he’s at a minnow, and that’s a factor on top of the Neroverdi’s usual fiery resistance and robust demands.
