Inter Not Currently Negotiating for Aston Villa Goalie

Inter have been linked to Emiliano Martinez, but they remain focused on Yann Sommer, even though they are having trouble coming to an understanding with Bayern Munich.

According to Tyc Sports (via Goal), the Nerazzurri inquired about the World Champion. They seek multiple goalies to replace André Onana and Samir Handanovic. Aston Villa turned down their opening offer.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, there are no confirmations about Inter being interested in Martinez. Rather, they continue to be in touch with the Bavarians. Both sides are currently in Japan for some friendlies. They aim to strike a deal shortly so that he can move directly from one setup to the other.

The Nerazzurri have run into unexpected difficulties in the negotiation. They believed the Swiss veteran had a €6M release clause. However, the situation isn’t so cut and dried. They will have to go through Bayern Munich.

Our Take on Inter, Martinez, and Sommer

He’d be a great candidate, but buying from the Premier League is highly complicated for Serie A sides unless they are targeting outcasts. They do need two reliable shot-stoppers, but if they manage to land a prodigy they truly believe in, Anatoliy Trubin or somebody else, they shouldn’t create unnecessary competition.
