Dionisi Urges Integration of Fresh Sassuolo Faces Ahead of 2023/24

Sassuolo manager Alesso Dionisi has urged his side to take note of last season’s shortcomings and do better by finishing in the top half of the table. The Neroverdi have onboarded eight players, including two loanees, and Dionisi feels it is of utmost importance to integrate them within the squad ahead of the new campaign.

The former Venezia and Empoli tactician spoke to Sky Italia (via SassuoloNews) of what to expect in the coming season.

“I’m thinking about how we ended last season, not well. We finished thirteenth which isn’t a bad result considering the departures and injuries. But the last month hasn’t been positive. We know it won’t be easy; we’ve changed a little bit and some players are still not convinced they’re in this team. This also takes away from the others, who still have to help the new ones to integrate.”

Dionisi then disclosed the importance of the club’s new signings

“We have to give to the team, we can’t expect from those who have arrived, also because maybe they were playing in Primavera or Serie B or in any case not in Serie A. We have to help them integrate. For me, we’ll start again knowing that to do what we did last year we’ll have to sweat, if we convince ourselves of this we’ll even be able to improve, but otherwise the season will be even more difficult.”

Andrea Pinamonti, Daniel Bolaca, Cristian Volpato, Nedim Bajrami, Samuele Mulattieri, Filippo Missori, Mattia Viti and Alessio Cragno are the new names under Dionisi in the Neroverdi ranks.
