Juventus Handed Positive Federico Chiesa Fitness Update

Just when it looked like Federico Chiesa could be hitting his stride at Juventus, another injury setback threatens to throw a spanner in the works. The quicksilver winger has withdrawn from the Italy national team due to a muscle injury on the eve of Saturday’s Euro 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia.

But according to Gianluca Di Marzio’s recent report, Juventus have received a positive update from Chiesa’s further checks. It seems the 25-year-old forward has to undergo negligible physical therapy to return to shape. That’s a massive confidence boost for Massimiliano Allegri after the Italian’s injury-troubled 2022/23 campaign.

Chiesa spent most of last season nursing a long-term knee injury. And when he finally recovered, he found himself low in the pecking order. However, Allegri has changed his stance on the ex-Fiorentina man this term, handing him a significantly more noticeable role in his Juventus setup.

Alongside Dusan Vlahovic, Chiesa has been the architect of the club’s impressive Serie A start. After scoring in a 3-0 demolition of Udinese on the opening weekend, he netted a late goal to seal a 2-0 triumph at Udinese on the eve of the international break.

Following his stellar start to 2023/24, the Juventus speed demon had a guaranteed place in Luciano Spalletti’s lineup for the upcoming qualifiers against North Macedonia and Ukraine. With Italy’s hopes of reaching next summer’s tournament on the line, losing a player of Chiesa’s stature could be a huge blow.
