Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli previewed the upcoming Derby della Mole, reminiscing his game-winning goal two years ago and more in an interview with La Stampa.
“I’d like for a repeat of that, also because I miss scoring, but that moment is indelible. I had just arrived, and I asked Thessa to marry me the day after.”
Locatelli will notch his 100th cap with the Old Lady versus Torino.
“It’s a nice satisfaction. I dreamed of wearing this jersey since I was a kid. The best win since I’ve been here was the comeback versus Roma in January 2022. We seemed destined to lose, and it was important for our confidence. The worst loss was in the Coppa Italia final versus Inter. I couldn’t give my best and I’m still sorry for it.”
Locatelli anticipates a tough game.
“Torino are gritty, have a capable coach, and make you play poorly. It’ll be a physical contest. You always need something extra in the Derby.”
The midfielder set the goals for this season.
“The ambition is to return in Champions League, which we are owed. If then we see we can do something more in the spring, we’ll do it.”
Locatelli dished on Massimiliano Allegri and Roberto De Zerbi.
“They are opposite but both unique. The latter changed my life. I needed that kind of experience to return to a top team. We’re in touch, but he knows that I want to stay here long-term. The former has a winning mentality that’s striking.”
