Unfazed by seeing their initial bid for Robin Gosens turned down by Union Berlin, Bologna are ready to lodge a new offer for the attacking-minded left-back. According to Alfredo Pedulla, the Rossoblu will try to get the Germans’ go-ahead by proposing a loan deal with an option to buy, albeit with better terms for the Berlin outfit.
Bologna have increased their proposal to a loan worth €1.5 million with an option to buy for a further €6m plus add-ons, hoping it would do the trick. However, it’s uncertain whether it would satisfy Union Berlin’s appetites, considering they paid Inter around €15m to sign the ex-Germany international only last summer.
Gosens isn’t a stranger to Serie A. He made a name for himself in European football during a memorable five-year stint at Atalanta. His sublime form in Bergamo earned him a massive €27.4m switch to Inter in January 2022. But that’s where things went south for the 29-year-old, who could join Bologna in a cut-price deal.
Gosens would have an almost guaranteed starting berth at Bologna, considering Victor Kristiansen will return to Leicester City following an underwhelming season-long loan in Italy. The player would probably say yes to the Rossoblu as it would see him play at Europe’s top table next term.
After Thiago Motta helped them qualify for the Champions League against all odds, Bologna are in the market to reinforce their squad. New manager Vincenzo Italiano will probably lose standout performer Joshua Zirkzee, who’s in advanced talks with Milan. On top of that, Lewis Ferguson’s future at Renato Dall’Ara is in doubt.
