Fiorentina Announce Signing of Troubled Serie A Forward

Beaten Europa Conference League finalists Fiorentina have announced the signing of Moise Kean from Juventus. The deal was in the pipeline for weeks, but the official announcement arrived only on Sunday evening.
Kean touched down in Tuscany on Sunday, with Fiorentina taking to social media to confirm he’s on the verge of signing a contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. The 24-year-old will undergo medical checks today and become the club’s first signing under new manager Raffaele Palladino.
The pair already met upon Kean’s landing on Sunday. After visiting the club’s Viola Park training ground, the ex-Everton center-forward is ready to embark on a new chapter in his career. Fiorentina will pay Juventus an initial €13 million up front, plus up to €5m in add-ons.
But per some reports, only €2m of those bonuses are easily achievable, with the remaining €2m reportedly performance-related. Kean’s arrival should trigger an avalanche of signings at Fiorentina this summer. Palladino’s prime objective is to revamp his attacking options.
In addition to Kean, Fiorentina are keeping close tabs on Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson. But the Iceland international has long been in Inter’s crosshairs.
Despite slowing things down on this front after snapping up goalkeeper Josep Martinez, Simone Inzaghi’s men remain hot on Gudmundsson’s heels. Fiorentina would need to come up with something special to win this race.
There’s a silver lining. Unlike Inter, Fiorentina would bring the prospect of regular first-team football, which may entice Gudmundsson to turn his back on the Serie A champions.
