Juventus Reignite Interest in Sassuolo Winger

The name of Sassuolo stalwart Domenico Berardi is back in fashion at Juventus amid Thiago Motta’s search for a new attacking option. According to Sky Sport Italia via IlBianconero, the record-time Italian champions have reignited their interest in the 29-year-old following Sassuolo’s relegation to Serie B.

It’s been one of the longest-running transfer sagas in football. Juventus have been hot on Berardi’s heels for almost a decade. The left-footed winger was on the Turin giants’ payroll between 2013 and 2015. However, he left the Allianz Stadium to join Sassuolo nine years ago.

Juventus have been on his trail ever since. But bringing Berardi back to Turin has proved elusive. In addition to the Bianconeri, other top Serie A clubs, including Inter, Milan, and Roma, have tried to sign the EURO 2020 winner but to no avail over the last few years. With Sassuolo no longer part of the elite, that narrative could change.

It’s impossible to imagine a player of Berardi’s quality plying his trade in Serie B. Therefore, Juventus have set their sights on their long-term target again. But they could broker the Italian forward’s return on favorable terms this time.

Sassuolo can’t afford to turn down another tangible proposal for Berardi. Demoted to the second tier, they must sell several first-team stars to raise funds for their recruitment campaign. Yet, Juventus will not break the bank to sign the Neroverdi captain.

Berardi isn’t the only name on the club’s shortlist. Juventus have established contact with Borussia Dortmund ace Karim Adeyemi.
