Monza Pursuit of Juventus Stalwart Handed Huge Boost

Wojciech Szczesny’s career at Juventus is drawing to a close, yet his future could still be in Italy despite being linked with a move to Al-Nassr. According to Sportitalia, the Saudi Pro League powerhouse had a conference call with the Poland international, and it didn’t turn out well.

Al-Nassr reportedly felt disappointed by the player’s lack of enthusiasm to swap Europe for the desert. Despite offering the Juventus long-serving stalwart a mind-blowing contract worth €20 million, the Riyadh outfit seemingly failed to entice Szczesny to leave Serie A.

Until not long ago, the 34-year-old looked destined to depart Juventus and continue his career in the Middle East. But that’s no longer the case. He’ll still leave Turin after the Bianconeri landed the highly-rated goalkeeper, Michele Di Gregorio, from Monza earlier in the summer.

Interestingly, the Brianteo Stadium could be Szczesny’s landing spot. Monza’s search for Di Gregio’s replacement has led them back to the Allianz Stadium doorstep. Though the Biancorossi’s interest in the Juventus veteran is long-standing, they were behind Al-Nassr in the queue.

However, with the Saudis on the verge of signing Athletico Paranaense’s Bento – formerly linked with Inter – Szczesny’s services are no longer required, paving the way for Monza to jump in front of the line. Juventus are open for discussions as they remain desperate to get the stopper’s hefty wages off their books.

Worryingly for Monza, Szczesny’s wages at Juventus could be out of their reach, with the former Arsenal star earning nearly €10m per season.
