Roma to Add Youngster Dahl, Shortlist New Right-Back

Roma are about to complete their third summer acquisition, as they have reached an agreement with Djurgarden to sign Samuel Dahl. They’ll pay about €4M for the talent. He’s replacing Leonardo Spinazzola and will pair up with Angelino on the left wing, Sky reports.

The talent commented to the Swedish site Expressen.

“It’ll be very fun. It’s incredible that the negotiation proceeded so quickly. I’m pumped.”

Director Magnus Andersson talked him up to Sportitalia.

“I can confirm that we’re in touch with Roma to discuss Dahl. They want to sign him, and it’s something very concrete. We’re in the homestretch. He’s a fantastic player, with a great mentality. He has improved a lot with us since we added him. Considering his offensive skills, he’s a modern fullback. He’s not tall, but he’s capable in the back. He’s similar to Philipp Lahm in my opinion.”

The 21-year-old joined Djurgarden from Orebro last year and has recorded 6 assists in 35 matches. He debuted with Sweden in January and was called up also during the June window.

In addition to Dahl on the left, Roma aim to bring in a right-back this summer. They have zeroed in on Rennes’ Lorenz Assignon, but Aston Villa have barged into the race. They have subsequently inquired about Marc Pubill, who starts for Almeria. He scored once and set up 3 teammates in 23 appearances last season. His side had purchased him for 5M from Levante. Bologna are also considering him because newcomer Emil Holm might have suffered a serious knee injury in practice.
