Juventus Set for Showdown Talks with Todibo’s Agent

Jean-Clair Todibo’s agent has reportedly landed in Italy to discuss the OGC Nice defender’s transfer to Juventus. According to Sky Sport Italia, the center-back’s representative is in Turin to iron out the final details of the ex-Barcelona flop’s impending switch to the Allianz Stadium.

Todibo has already agreed to join Juventus and follow in the footsteps of his former Nice teammate, Khephern Thuram, who joined forces with Thiago Motta’s team earlier in July. The 24-year-old has informed Les Aiglons of his ambition to continue his career in Serie A.

Unwilling to stand in the player’s way, Nice are reportedly open to letting Todibo link up with Juventus on loan with an obligatory buyout clause. However, Todibo’s arrival would require a substantial financial sacrifice on Bianconeri’s part, with the French club demanding around €37 million to let their prize asset leave.

Juventus have already embarked on a fund-raising campaign. Dean Huijsen is on the verge of completing his €18m move to Premier League side Bournemouth. In addition to the young rearguard, Matias Soule will soon cut ties with Juventus to become a new Roma player after refusing to participate in Friday’s friendly against Nurnberg.

Soule’s departure will pour nearly €30m into Bianconeri’s coffers. Once Juventus finalize both sales, they’ll accelerate discussions with Nice. They’ll enter negotiations from a position of strength if showdown talks with Todibo’s entourage go to plan. Since the player wants to work with Motta, that seems to be a mere formality.
