Torino Repel First Approaches by Roma for Top Fullback

Roma intend to round out their impressive summer with a new young right-back, but they’ll have to be very persuasive to sign one of their top targets, Raoul Bellanova. Torino would like to keep their other linchpins after partying ways with Alessandro Buongiorno, TuttoSport informs.

The Granata rebuffed the counterparty after they asked for the Italian international. He’s not for sale, or at least his valuation is very high to scare off the suitors. They might entertain his departure for a fee close to €25M. They paid €7M to acquire him from Cagliari last summer after Inter elected not to keep him. He has scored once and provided seven assists in 2023/2024.

Roma will have to decide whether to spend big for Bellanova or pursue more affordable targets. A swap deal involving Nicola Zalewski isn’t easy to arrange. They are eyeing primarily Rennes’ Lorenz Assignon and Almeria’s Marc Pubill. They have already done business with Rennes this summer, but they might be higher on the Spaniard. Both are drawing interest from the Premier League.

The Giallorossi moved on from Rasmus Kristensen in the role, who was on loan, and plan to part ways with Rick Karsdorp.

Our Take on Roma and Bellanova

He’d need some work defensively as he’s more accustomed to playing as a wingback in a five-man midfield, but he’d be perfect for their quick-tempo style. Torino are easily convinced if somebody puts enough money on the table. Considering it’s a secondary role all things considered, they might refrain from another big investment. Instead, they should arguably sign a pair, as Zeki Celik hasn’t been convincing either.
