Roma Negotiating to Purchase Three New Defenders

Roma are working on three additions to their rearguard, as they laid eyes on Juventus outcast Tiago Djaló on top of being in talks for Saud Abdulhamid and Lorenz Assignon. The two fullbacks aren’t mutually exclusive.

According to OkazSports (via Tuttomercatoweb), the Giallorossi tendered €2.5M for the Al-Hilal star, but it’s not certain they’ll be successful. His side offered him a renewal as his contract is up in January. It’ll be up to him to decide his future. The capital club reportedly received strong reviews about him from Roberto Mancini, who helms the Saudi national team.

In addition to the late hurdle for Saud Abdulhamid, Roma need to change their offer for Assignon, while the negotiation with Juventus for Djaló should be easier. Per Calciomercato, Rennes turned down a loan with an option to buy because they demand an obligation. They already signed his replacement, Hans Hateboer from Atalanta.

The Giallorossi opened the room for a center-back by sending Marash Kumbulla to Espanyol on a temporary spell. They are discussing an initial loan with a €7M purchase clause and a 10/15 resale clause with the Bianconeri, Alfredo Pedullà relays. The defender wants to leave and is very open to the destination.

Our Take on Roma, Saud Abdulhamid, Assignon, and Djaló

The Portuguese’s stocks have plummeted so much that he’d be a nice reclamation project at this point, especially if he wouldn’t be needed in a big role immediately. The Saudi fullback would be a fine gamble, provided he’s paired up with somebody with European experience, since his price tag is low.
