Napoli About to Accept Offer from Al-Ahli for Osimhen

Napoli are in advanced talks with Al-Ahli concerning the sale of Victor Osimhen, but there’s a lot of work to be done on the player’s side for the deal to come together. The Saudi team tendered €65M for the striker. Only a few details are missing between the two clubs, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).

On the other hand, the suitors must settle a few key aspects to come to terms with the ace. The negotiation doesn’t regard just the wages and length of his prospective new contract. The Nigerian star demands a release clause to be able to come back to Europe in the near future.

Napoli have de facto signed off on sending Osimhen to Al-Ahli, but it’s not yet certain the potential buyers will indeed be able to persuade the striker. He has a €120M release clause in his contract, but no team has come close to activating it.

Chelsea and PSG have been linked to the 2022/2023 capocannoniere, but the conversations never went too far. The Blues wanted him on an initial loan with no obligation to buy. Instead, the Ligue 1 champions offered too little. The Partenopei are closing in on an agreement to sign Romelu Lukaku for €30M plus €15M add-ons.

Our Take on Osimhen, Napoli, and Al-Ahli

It’s not a coincidence that the Azzurri got very busy adding new players in recent days. It’d be a debacle if he left at those conditions since he was worth at least double as much last summer. On the other hand, there might not really be an alternative. It turns out that setting up a future sale with a renewal and a mammoth release clause doesn’t work.
