Juventus to Add Conceiçao in Unconventional Deal

Juventus have completed their one-two punch on the wing, as Francisco Conceiçao almost finalized his switch on Monday. He touched down in Italy early in the morning for the medicals and put pen to paper later in the day. The official announcement will most likely come on Tuesday.

The attacker will join on loan with no option or obligation to buy, although with some caveats, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta). The Bianconeri will pay €7M to have him this season. The fee includes his wages, which is about €2.5/3M. They’ll have to disburse €3M bonuses if they qualify for the Champions League.

Juventus will try to obtain the inside track to sign Conceiçao permanently in the future. A €30M release clause will come into effect next summer. They might be able to obtain a written priority from Porto. The fixed sum will go up in the future.

The youngster wanted to depart after his father’s unceremonious exit. He tallied 8 goals and 8 assists in 43 games last season after a loan spell at Ajax that didn’t go well. He has six caps and one goal with Portugal, with most of them coming in Euro 2024.

Our Take on Juventus and Conceiçao

It’s an odd deal and, despite the whispers, what they are shelling out this summer will be a factor in the future even without anything formal about it. While the formula mostly stems from their intention of keeping all the money for Teun Koopmeiners, it also protects them in case he doesn’t pan out, which is possible. Still, a twofer with Nico Gonzalez is solid and will allow them to wait for him to adjust and grow.
