Galatasaray haven’t managed to obtain the go-ahead from every party to sign Nicola Zalewski from Roma. Their representatives have left Italy to head to Germany, putting an end to the negotiation. There’s still a few hours to go in the transfer window, Alfredo Pedullà informs.
The Turkish side got the thumbs-up on the move from the wingback on Tuesday. Some officials flew in to finalize the acquisition. They offered €2M wages to the Polish international, who makes €350k annually.
On the other hand, Galatasaray couldn’t concur with Roma on the valuation of Zalewski at first. They lowered their proposal on personal terms to get closer to the demand, which caused the player to have second thoughts about transferring. They tried to salvage the situation and go back to the initial conditions but couldn’t convince the youngster, who had doubts about leaving the capital club in the first place. The dynamics are comparable to Paulo Dybala’s botched switch to Al-Qadsiah.
Per Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi had accepted a €11M bid plus €1M add-ons and a future resale clause. The footballer started playing hardball, asking for a lot more than what was originally agreed upon: €3,2M yearly, a €500k signing bonus, and a €15M exit clause.
Roma might freeze out Zalewski after he repelled Galatasaray. His contract expires in 2025 and there’s little traction about a renewal. The Turkish team has been linked to Milan and Napoli outcasts Fodé Ballo-Touré and Mario Rui but appear to be going in a different direction in the role at the moment, Sky relays.
