Many coaches have been clamoring for the transfer market window to end before the first match of the season. Inter president Giuseppe Marotta believes the adjustment could be made sooner rather than later. He talked to Sky before the meeting with Manchester City.
“The transfer market should go hand in hand with the start of the championship. We complained about it, and the League is aware of the issue. I hope it will happen next year.”
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the main countries discussed moving up the deadline day to August 14th last summer. Serie A drove the effort with its apical executives Andrea Butti and Luigi De Siervo. Four of the top five leagues agreed on the matter, and Saudi Arabia would have been involved too. However, La Liga refused, and things stayed as is.
Marotta also revealed a backstory about Erling Haaland.
“He was offered to Juventus when he was still playing in Norway. He was 15 and came to see a game versus Inter. We were close, but some difficulties arose, and we couldn’t seal the deal. It’s part of the job for those who negotiate for a lot of players.”

It’s such an easy fix that it’s ludicrous that it hasn’t happened already. The first rounds are a separate universe from the rest of the season while it’s still open. If it’s a length problem, the session could simply formally start in June, as plenty of business get done during that month anyway.
