Do Italian Clubs Have a Chance to Win a Euro Trophy in the 2024/25 Season?

Even though Italian football dominated the 1990s in Europe, they’ve been having trouble lifting a major European trophy in the last decades. Atlanta and Roma did win the lower tiers of European football, but we have yet to see someone attack the Champions League since Inter’s last win in 2010. As the 2024/25 European football season is already on, let’s explore the chances for any of them to win a major Euro trophy this season?

Current Performance and Form

Italian clubs have tradition when it comes to competitiveness in European competitions. Even without a Champions League trophy last season, Italy topped the UEFA coefficient rankings, thanks to strong performances across all tournaments. Big clubs like Inter, Milan, Juventus, and Roma have consistently reached the knockout stages, but their trophy cabinets lack European silverware.

Key Contenders for Trophies

Inter

Inter, the reigning Serie A champions, have had a not so great start of the season in the Serie A. However, their squad shows depth and under Simone Inzaghi, they have a chance to go high in the new format Champions League. They have the biggest odds to win it – 12/1 – among all Italian clubs taking part to this year’s edition.

Milan

Milan were last season’s Serie A runners-up and have been very active on the transfer market. Their experience in European competitions and tactical flexibility make them potential contenders, but it remains to be seen how they fare in the key moments of the season under their new manager Paulo Fonseca. Players like Rafael Leão and Christian Pulisic will be pivotal in their campaign for European trophies.

Juventus

Juventus, known as the Old Lady, despite having troubles last season, have shown signs of resurgence. With a mix of experienced veterans and promising young talents, they aim to reclaim their status in Europe. We feel that they are still far away from the European trophy, but you can never rule them out. Key players for Juve are Dusan Vlahovic and youngster Kenan Yildiz, who just opened his Champions League scoring account with a fantastic goal against PSV a few days ago.

Roma

Under José Mourinho, Roma have managed to break their European drought and win the UEFA Europa League. However, since Mourinho’s departure they have been experiencing troubles on the European front. But, tradition is with Roma, and they can challenge for the second tier of European football easily.

Challenges, Betting Odds and Predictions

While Italian clubs are not considered the best contenders for European trophies, they still have the potential to give a real challenge. According to renown betting platform BetUS they have the following betting odds for Italian clubs in the UEFA Champions League:

  • Inter Milan: 12/1
  • AC Milan: 16/1
  • Juventus: 20/1
  • AS Roma: 25/1 (for the UEFA Europa League)

Of all the beating platforms out there, BetUs gives one of the highest (and fairest) odds at the moment. You can always check their reviews, such as this one here, and  see if it fits your betting preferences.  But check other platforms as well, because the odds are always changing, and they rely on player form, injuries and team chemistry.  As you can see the odds for Inter at the same time are not so low, but not so high. With luck, some brilliant football they can recreate the 2010 Champions League success.

Clubs from the English Premier League, La Liga, and the Bundesliga are also vying for glory, making the path to a EURO trophy highly competitive. These odds reflect the competitive nature of the tournaments but also highlight the potential of Italian clubs to make a significant impact.
