Napoli Exec Discusses Pivotal Renewal and Summer Window

Napoli have been tipped to reach an agreement to extend the contract of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but an announcement isn’t imminent yet. Director Giovanni Manna addressed the saga to Mediaset before the win over Palermo in Coppa Italia.

“I’ve said it in the past and I’ll do it again: there’s no rush, and that goes for any renewal. There are three years on his contract. We talked about it and we will continue to, but there’s no deadline.”

Like Antonio Conte, Manna is pleased with how Napoli operated in the summer.

“We tried to do the best of our possibilities and brought in some players who were ready to contribute and others with potential. We’re fairly happy with what we’ve done. It was positive considering it was my first session, but you can always do something more. We attempted to improve the group and give the coach more choices.”

Recent reports suggested Milan inquired about Victor Osimhen late in the window, but Manna rubbished them.

“Nobody called us about him from them.”

Our Take on Napoli and Kvaratskhelia

While it’s true that his contract is long-term and that he seems to have a special bond with the Partenopei, it’d be better for them to get it done sooner rather than later, as the buzz will intensify in each window, and he might become discontent at some point. It’d set a nice example and buy them some goodwill with other players since he’s one of the lowest-paid ones in their squad, which is quite ludicrous.
