Roma Director Addresses De Rossi, Dybala, and More

Roma director Florent Ghisolfi dished on several topics in his first interview since joining the team but refused to go into too much detail about Daniele De Rossi’s firing. He spoke with Corriere dello Sport.

“The decision has been made, and it’s time to move on. It’s hard to find stability in football. That’s why we decided to build a club that doesn’t depend on a coach or an exec. It was a tough week because it’s rare to see the departures of a boss and a CEO at the same time.”

Ghisolfi examined the Paulo Dybala saga.

“Al-Qadsiah targeted him, and he thought about it as normal. He made a sentimental decision, which is positive for everybody considering his quality and connection with the team, the owners, and the fans. Since we’re pragmatic, we had to take his desire to leave into consideration. We had to be ready to replace him, but it’s good to keep a top player. It’s a routine situation. We haven’t given Ivan Juric any indication about his appearances. There’s no ongoing discussion about his renewal. We want him to be focused on the pitch and mentally free.”

Ghisolfi took stock of the past window.

“We aim to create a high-performance and sustainable side and invested heavily in U-25 players. We managed to avoid selling our centerpieces, which was a goal for the Friedkin family. Our wish is to enter the new stadium with a few stars.”

Ghisolfi addressed the Nicola Zalewski situation.

“We’re in touch with him and his agent. I see two people who love the team, so we hope to find a solution. Losing a youth product for nothing isn’t an option.”
