Juventus Weighing Up January Move for Motta Pupil to Replace Bremer

Juventus have reportedly set their sights on highly-rated Bologna center-back Sam Beukema after losing Gleison Bremer to a long-term injury. According to Calciomercato, the Turin giants are ready to make a winter move for the Dutch star, launched to prominence by Thiago Motta.

Beukema has registered five Serie A starts this season, continuing to build his reputation as one of the most dependable defenders in Italy. Motta is all too familiar with the 25-year-old’s quality. He was in charge of the Rossoblu when they forked out €10 million to sign Beukema from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023.

The new Juventus manager established the Dutchman at Renato Dall’Ara last season. Now, he’s willing to take him to the Allianz Stadium to address a gaping hole at the back. The Bianconeri lost their most-trusted center-half, Bremer, to a nasty-looking knee injury in a 3-2 UEFA Champions League win against RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

Juventus would ideally replace the 27-year-old Brazilian with Beukema, who has gone from strength to strength since the start of last season. However, the Go Ahead Eagles youth academy graduate won’t come cheap. His contract at Bologna runs out in the summer of 2027. That puts the Rossoblu in a strong bargaining position.

After sanctioning Riccardo Calafiori’s big-money transfer to Arsenal in the summer, Vincenzo Italiano’s men are in no hurry to offload another significant defensive piece. Juventus would likely have to come up with a substantial offer to convince Bologna to give up their new backline leader midway through the campaign.
