Juventus Not Upholding Home Cooking in the Early Going

Juventus couldn’t take advantage of the meeting with Cagliari at home over the weekend, which marked their third consecutive draw at the Stadium after those against Roma and Napoli. They have won twice on their own turf, versus Como in the opener and PSV in the Champions League, La Gazzetta dello Sport relayed.

The Bianconeri have prevailed only against teams that were aggressive against them in Turin, taking advantage of the room they left. Instead, the other opponents were more cautious and bunkered up at times. They had 74 percent possession against the Rossoblù but just a goal to show for it. The Sardinians came close to taking home the full spoils late in the match, on top of scoring the first Serie A goal against the Old Lady.

Juventus have a 74 percent winning rate since opening their new home. It used to be an impenetrable fortress in the first few years, but recent seasons made the clip go down. Still, it’s a lot higher than their current 40 percent, albeit with a small sample size.

Like in past campaigns, the Bianconeri have had trouble converting their chances. After seven rounds, they are in third place, three points below the league-leading Napoli.

Our Take on Juventus

Football is a game of inches, and they’d be  satisfied with how things have gone so far if Dusan Vlahovic didn’t miss a sitter when the result was one-nil, and Douglas Luiz stopped just before crashing into an opponent. The script about how to limit them is out already, so they need the Serb to produce in spades, or, even better, the attackers and the midfielders to chip in consistently.
