Inter Considering Audacious Bid For Former Milan Forward

Serie A champions Inter have reportedly registered a genuine interest in Monza’s rising star Daniel Maldini. According to Calciomercato, the former Milan youth academy graduate caught Piero Ausilio’s eye during the latter’s visit to the U-Power Stadium last weekend.

Ausilio reportedly attended Monza’s home clash against Roma to watch Warren Bondo first-hand. However, Maldini drew his attention as Alessandro Nesta’s side held the Giallorossi to a 1-1 draw. Now, Inter consider making a shock swoop for the 22-year-old.

With Maldini’s family inherently tied to the Milan jersey, seeing Daniel in the Inter shirt would be an anomaly. But that won’t discourage the Nerazzurri from approaching the playmaker’s camp. Maldini’s rise to stardom since leaving San Siro has not gone unnoticed.

Italy head coach Luciano Spalletti has handed the rumored Inter transfer target his maiden international call-up this month. Maldini could make his first-ever senior appearance for Gli Azzurri over 22 years after his father Paolo made his last outing for his country.

Former Milan vice-president Adriano Galliano spotted Maldini’s talent years ago. Now at the helm of Monza, he first signed him on a season-long loan in January 2024. The Biancorossi made the move permanent this summer, tying the forward down to a two-year contract.

Maldini may not stay at Monza for long. Inter are ready to exploit the club’s perilous position in the Serie A standings and the player’s relatively short-term contract to lure the new Italy international back to Giuseppe Meazza.
