Italian Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi believes the revelations emerging from the Juventus camp might just be the tip of the iceberg. The recently appointed government executive says things need to be put in order so that irregularities such as the one exposed can be eliminated.
“Juventus’ situation is only the extreme tip and, in some ways, even sensational, of a phenomenon we can’t look the other way. Juventus probably isn’t the only one. it’s time to put things in order and check everything in a more punctual manner, because there are companies that behave in an extremely correct manner and others that, evidently, have interpreted the rules in a particular way. This also causes a problem in terms of fair competition,” said Abodi in light of happenings as Juventus (via FCInterNews)
Abodi thinks clubs should have autonomy in making decision but must ultimately be monitored and checked on a regular basis.
“Sports autonomy must be guaranteed, but management behavior must be monitored, analysed, evaluated and eventually sanctioned. Degenerative phenomena should be regulated within the sports system.”
The Bianconeri are currently in turmoil from a management perspective following accusation of false accounting and market manipulation. The leaks have forced the entire Juventus board to resign, including chief Andrea Agnelli.
