Acerbi Rallies Inter to Avoid Bottling First Leg EuroDerby Lead

Inter defender Francesco Acerbi is critical of squeezing a positive result in the return leg at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza when they host Milan. The 2-0 lead from the first leg undoubtedly puts the Nerazzurri atop their rivals, but Acerbi is wary of the threat the Rossoneri possess.

Speaking to the press in his pre-match conference (via FCInterNews) on the eve of the EuroDerby second leg, Acerbi ralled his side not to bottle their precious lead.

“We’re not at all sure, we were very calm but without too much cheering at the end because there’s a potential comeback. We didn’t do anything yet. It would be a mistake to think we have higher passing percentages. Everything is still at stake, we know we can do something important. We have to have balance, have the right approach. It’s not easy to ease the tension on the eve.”

The Lazio loanee revealed his confidence when quizzed if he was upto the challenge.

“Yes, because it’s a beautiful game to play and it gives you the right adrenaline and fear to face Milan in the Champions League. It will be more difficult, but we want to do something that was unthinkable at the start of the season.”

Acerbi also commented on Rafael Leao potentially returning to Stefano Pioli’s line-up for the return leg after missing the clash last week.

“We’ll see. They come from a not as wonderful period as we experienced. Tomorrow will be a test of pride, we must expect the best from Milan. Leao is their best player, the most decisive. We will stop him with the whole team.”
