Alessandro Bastoni’s agent, Tullio Tinti, insists his client will not leave Serie A champions Inter this summer. In an interview with Sky Sports, Tinti confirmed rumors linking the Italy international with Manchester City and Real Madrid but maintained the Italian club would not negotiate his exit.
“Man City asked for Bastoni years ago, recently Real Madrid did the same,” Tinti said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano. “Inter want to win, and they’re not gonna sell their top players like Bastoni.”
Bastoni emerged as Pep Guardiola’s dream signing two summers ago. However, Inter rebuffed Man City’s approach, forcing the Spanish manager to go after Ruben Dias. The Citizens reportedly renewed their interest last year, but the outcome was the same.
With David Alaba experiencing an injury-hit Real Madrid career, Los Blancos have also registered an interest in Bastoni. But Inter boss Simone Inzaghi sees the 25-year-old as an indispensable first-team star and doesn’t want to lose his defensive stalwart under any circumstances.
The highly-rated center-back has flourished at Giuseppe Meazza, helping Inter win two Serie A titles in four years. In doing so, he has become one of Europe’s most sought-after defenders. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Nerazzurri are hellbent on keeping hold of him.
Inter will seemingly retain Bastoni’s services. But they’re still in the market for another defender after losing Tajon Buchanan to injury. While searching for a new rearguard, Inter could pick up a new forward after reportedly being offered the likes of Memphis Depay and Domenico Berardi.
