Agent Corroborates Napoli Interest in Genoa Young Fullback

Andrea Cambiaso will be a hot commodity in the summer, and Napoli will be among the contenders. He has just one year left on his contract with Genoa. Therefore, his evaluation remains low despite an impressive first season in Serie A.

His agent Giovanni Bia talked to Radio Marte (via Corriere dello Sport): “We will see what happens in June. Director Cristiano Giuntoli tried to sign him a few years ago. However, he moved to Empoli on loan at the time. Several teams have him on their radar. We will assess very carefully what the best solution could be. Genoa have a foreign ownership now, and we have different visions. We are focusing on the relegation struggle, and the rest will come later.”

Napoli are in very advanced talks to purchase Mathis Olivera from Getafe, but Cambiaso can feature on either flank: “He is like Paolo Maldini in that sense, as he can play indifferently on the left, on the right or as a wing-back. He is versatile and fully ambidextrous.”

“There is plenty of interest in him. I think he will be part of the pool for the next cycle of the Azzurri. He has skills and potential; Italy needs players like him. We naturalized some foreigners, and I do not see great fullbacks around at the moment. I think he will be one of the regulars for the national team for the next ten years.” On top of Napoli, Inter and Juventus are also in the mix to capture Cambiaso.
