Jorge Mendes has landed in Turin yesterday to visit with Cristiano Ronaldo. The agent is trying to orchestrate his transfer to Manchester City, although some difficulties are hindering the prospective deal. At this stage, he has not met with Juventus, nor scheduled a summit with the management, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
The international landscape has changed dramatically within a day, potentially opening up two landing spots for Ronaldo. Harry Kane has announced that he will stay at Tottenham, forcing Manchester City to look at other high-profile targets. Moreover, PSG director Leonardo opened to the possibility of selling Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid, although they have not accepted their offer yet. However, the French club might pursue a different type of player, such as Richarlison, if they let go of their star, RMC Sport informs.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the agent has yet to bring Juventus a formal offer for Ronaldo. Manchester City have put on the table a two-year contract with €15M annual wages. The Portuguese ace currently makes double that sum. He reportedly turned a similar proposal from United earlier in the window.
Furthermore, the Citizens would like to sign him on a free transfer. Juventus are opposing such solution, as they would have to bankroll the search for a proper replacement. The Bianconeri are eyeing Gabriel Jesus, whom they have coveted for years. However, Pep Guardiola has not greenlighted his departure. The Old Lady would be happy if Ronaldo stayed, but they are leaving the choice up to the footballer, Gazzetta adds.
