Everton tried to find a striker in Italy up until deadline day, and they made hail-mary attempts for Olivier Giroud and Beto to no avail.

Agent Michael Manuello: “Serie A Has Completed Giroud”

Olivier Giroud put up a Man of the Match performance against Australia in France’s opening World Cup match with two goals in the 4-1 win, matching Thierry Henry’s all-time goalscoring record for Les Bleus. The 36-year-old has aged like fine wine in his career, as he continues to score important goals for both France and Milan.

Giroud was initially expected to star as a deputy striker under Stefano Pioli, but his remarkable ability to score important goals has made him one of the references of the Rossoneri outfit. His agent Michael Manuello believes the ex-Chelsea forward’s decision to leave Premier League has only bettered him as a player.

“Italy completed him because they expect different things from him. In Serie A, he stays more in the box than in the past and has responsibilities as a starting striker. Olivier was often a number 2 or a number 1 and a half in the hierarchies before, while at Milan he is one of the references of the team,” commented Manuello to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews).

Giroud has 23 goals in 57 appearances for Milan since moving from Chelsea in 2021.
