Agent of Napoli Star Lorenzo Insigne Met with Milan Management

Vincenzo Pisacane, the representative of Lorenzo Insigne, met with the Milan brass yesterday afternoon. It is believed that it was nothing more than a courtesy call since the agent was in town, but the contractual situation of Napoli ace creates some suspicion, Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

At the moment, the deal of the attacker is set to expire in June of 2022. In a couple of months, he will sit down with president Aurelio De Laurentiis to work on a five-year extension that will allow him to finish his career with the Partenopei. The feeling is mutual in that respect, but the talks hit a snag on the salary.

The 29-year-old forward is currently making €4.5M and the front office asked him to take a pay cut down to €3M, plus sizeable bonuses. The proposal has not been received well, but the two parties have tabled the discussion for the end of the season. If they did not come to terms, the captain would inevitably be put on the market, but it seems unlikely such scenario will indeed materialize, the outlet informs.

With nine matches sto go, Insigne is on track for a career year as he has already scored 15 goals, plus he has dished 5 assists in Serie A play. His had hit the net 18 times and set up 8 teammates in his best campaign in 2016/2017. Milan are eyeing multiple options to bolster their front-line, for instance Florian Thauvin, who could be available on a free transfer, Josip Ilicic, Riccardo Orsolini and Federico Bernardeschi.
