Agent of Roma Midfielder Rules Out January Move to Tottenham

Tottenham and Antonio Conte requested Jordan Veretout to Roma, but he will not transfer in January. His agent rubbished the reports about an imminent departure. Moreover, a swap with Tanguy Dembele does not appear to be a viable solution.

His representative Mario Giuffredi talked to Calciomercato.it: “I absolutely deny the possibility of such trade happening. He will stay at Roma at least until the end of the season.” The Frenchman will face competition from Sergio Oliveira from here on out. He was supposed to begin on the bench versus Cagliari, but Lorenzo Pellegrini got hurt in the warm-ups. The agent quickly dismissed any controversy about the coach’s choices: “José Mourinho is the Special One, and he is a top-level man.”

Rather than to Roma in exchange for Veretout, Ndombele could move to PSG, as the French club is negotiating with Tottenham, Fabrizio Romano reports. The two midfielders have significantly different price tags. Moreover, the wages of the Spurs player would be very burdensome for the Giallorossi.

Roma might continue to tweak their midfield in the final days of the January window. They are discussing Amadou Diawara with Valencia and Salernitana. On top of the coveted Boubacar Kamara, also Florian Grillitsch and Granit Xhaka are on their radar should they decide to make another addition, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. The Swiss international has missed a lot of time due to injury. Arsenal did not let him go in the previous window. However, they could be more permissive this time around if they landed Arthur from Juventus.
