Agents Discards Napoli as Future Club for Thiago Motta

Thiago Motta will most likely go to a top team in the summer, but agent Mario Canovi, who’s part of his entourage, has ruled out one option, Napoli. He said his piece to Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Motta doesn’t know his future yet, but it certainly won’t be at Napoli. He wouldn’t go there even if Aurelio De Laurentiis signed Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Calafiori. He has other plans for his future.”

According to La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, Motta met with the Partenopei owner last summer when the Scudetto winners needed to replace Luciano Spalletti, but he didn’t like what he heard. Their patron addressed the controversy in a presser, suggesting the coach aimed at a foreign powerhouse.

Canovi also discussed the links to Juventus.

“I don’t think there have been direct contacts with them; otherwise, I would have been informed.”

Per Calciomercato, Thiago Motta would be high on the Bianconeri’s list if Massimiliano Allegri didn’t stay. Milan and Roma are both keen on him and Antonio Conte. The young boss has been linked to Barcelona, but he and Deco aren’t on the best terms, and PSG.

Our Take on Thiago Motta

That’s quite the drive-by, but it’s no surprise that De Laurentiis often rubs people the wrong way. That’s a big part of the reason why his recent coaching searches have been challenging. The boss will have his options. From a stylistic standpoint, he’d be a great fit for Milan.
