Al Nassr Inching Closer to Signing Inter Playmaker

Long-serving Inter stalwart Marcelo Brozovic could continue his career in Saudi Arabia after earning a genuine interest from Al Nassr. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi Pro League giants are confident of getting the deal over the line, with showdown talks scheduled for Monday.

If Romano’s update was to prove valid, it’s entirely up to Brozovic to decide. Talks between Inter and Al Nassr are underway, but it seems like the 30-year-old has some doubts about moving to the Saudi Pro League. One of the potential reasons behind his skepticism could be a rumored interest from Barcelona.

Despite landing Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City, Xavi Hernandez is still in the market for more midfield reinforcements. Club icon Sergio Busquets waved goodbye to Camp Nou earlier this summer, bringing Brozovic into the equation. But it’s uncertain whether Barcelona have the economic capacity to meet Inter’s demands.

Al Nassr reportedly tabled a €15 million bid for the Inter playmaker earlier this week. Though the Italians seem inclined to accept it, the Croatia international is still having second thoughts. Brozovic has been among the best-performing midfielders in Serie A over the past few years, hence the bamboozlement over the Nerazzurri’s decision to cut him loose.

In addition to playing a massive role in the 2020/21 Scudetto, Brozovic has won two Coppa Italia, two Italian Super Cups and helped Inter secure a runner-up finish in the Champions League last season. Despite walking into the fourth decade, he’s still among the best playmakers Serie A has to offer.

But if he were to join Al Nassr, Inter would probably step up their pursuit of Sassuolo star Davide Frattesi. As the Italian’s long-term admirers, Simone Inzaghi’s men wait for a perfect opportunity to strike. Maybe Brozovic’s move to Saudi Arabia could unlock the deal to bring the 23-year-old to Giuseppe Meazza.
