Al-Qadsiah Continue to Chase After Roma Star Dybala

Paulo Dybala is more seriously considering a move to Saudi Arabia after rejecting an opening offer last week. His agent Carlos Novel met with Al-Qadsiah after getting the go-ahead to do so from Roma, Sky informs. No decision has been made.

La Joya no longer seems fundamental in the club’s strategies. There have been no talks to extend or revise his contract. It technically expires in 2025, but it’s likely to be prolonged automatically, La Repubblica informs.

Due to an option, it’ll happen if he features in at least 45 minutes in half of the matches during his first three seasons with the Giallorossi. Considering his numbers in the past two, he’s about 15 games shy, so it’ll occur unless he suffers a severe injury. Or if he leaves.

Dybala saw his salary, which had been relatively affordable in the past two years, increase due to previous clauses. He weighs €16M on their balance sheet now. Instead, Roma have been cautious with their payroll this summer despite splurging on fees. His agent Carlos Novel will be in Italy shortly.

In the meantime, Daniele De Rossi, who was coy on the matter recently, is preparing to bench him in the opener against Cagliari. He’d field Matias Soulé and one between Nicola Zalewski and Stephan El Shaarawy instead.

Our Take on Dybala

The chatter isn’t going away, and his contract situation is different and more certain than previously described. They got him at a bargain two summers ago, but the chickens are coming home to roost now. It’d still be stunning but, considering they acquired Soulé, they’d be well-positioned for life without him if they signed a top left winger too.
