Albertini Signs Off on Milan Pursuit of De Ketelaere

Milan tweaked their offer for Charles De Ketelaere, and they expect a definitive answer from Club Brugge shortly. There is optimism the proposal will convince the counterparty. The Rossoneri have tendered €35M in total, changing the structure of the bonuses, according to Sky.

Club legend Demetrio Albertini spoke about the Belgian starlet to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He is a potential champion. I read people say that the Rossoneri have trouble on the transfer market and that they can’t finalize deals. However, their preparation goes way back. They don’t improvise anything. They have a precise design, which takes time.”

The former midfielder believes De Ketelaere could be key in helping Milan retain the title.

“They can repeat, also thanks to him. The fee would be sizeable, but they must have made careful assessments if they are willing to spend that much. He can play in multiple roles in their scheme, but he is primarily a trequartista. He is a modern player, and he already has international experience. I like that he is vey talented but he puts himself at disposal of the team. He can grow to reach the level of Kevin De Bruyne or Toni Kroos in my mind. They excel in today’s football where you have to star in different positions throughout a game.”

Albertini thinks Stefano Pioli would groom De Ketelaere, whom he likened to a former Milan great.

“The coach has developed many players, for instance Sandro Tonali, Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez. The prodigy himself knows the technical project would be perfect for him. He reminds me of Zvonimir Boban, who could play everywhere at very high levels. They are different but both versatile and might have a similar trajectory.”
