All May Not Be Lost for Napoli Just Yet This Transfer Window

Napoli are on a mission to revamp their squad after President Aurelio De Laurentiis hinted at the fact that the Naples club had only a few days to sort their problems out.

Captain Lorenzo Insigne’s contract renewal hasn’t come into fruition – his contract with the Partenopei expires in June 2022. Kalidou Koulibaly’s future with the club remains uncertain, along with the futures of few other players including Fabian Ruiz.

However, they are still eyeing a couple of potential incoming moves, with Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri their long linked target of the transfer window. Napoli will reportedly only make a concrete move for him if an effort for 23-year-old Villareal defender Pervis Estupinan breaks down – West Ham United are contenders for his signature too. These are according to reports from Italian outlet Il Mattino.

Speaking to the press in a recently held financial convention in Rome, De Laurentiis said: “I have to go and meet Spalletti, because tomorrow I return to Rome and we have to talk about innumerable problems. The transfer market is open, both for selling and signing players. We’ve only got a few days.”

The club are also trying to get in Fulham defender Jean Michael Seri as a replacement for Diego Demme, who is out for an extended period of time. According to Footmercato, the Ivorian has emerged as a viable and affordable target for the Partenopei.

A few departues have also taken place recently – Gennaro Tutino has been transferred to Parma and Sebastiano Luperto to Empoli.

Napoli’s target this window will have to be securing Insigne but any respectable offers for the Italian ace will be entertained amid a crunch financial scene.
