Allegri Addresses De Ligt and January Before Facing Cagliari

Massimiliano Allegri previewed the Cagliari game earlier today: “It is a delicate one because of the upcoming vacations, and everybody is looking forward to getting some rest. But it matters a lot. The Sardinians do not deserve to be so low in the standings seeing their roster and their attack in particular. It would be a mistake to see it as an easy fixture.”

Paulo Dybala and Giorgio Chiellini will remain unavailable: “We will have the same squad as in Bologna. Mattia De Sciglio and Rodrigo Bentancur are fine. We will evaluate tomorrow, as Juan Cuadrado is one yellow card away from disqualification.”

Allegri quickly touched on Mino Raiola’s warning shot on Matthijs De Ligt: “His next step is to score. I did not listen to the interview, but I can say he is improving. He had two great interventions in Bologna. Time will tell in the transfer market.”

The coach does not see reinforcements coming in January: “The CEO was clear about it, as we will not make major investments. I said in the previous presser that we would confirm this squad and try to get better in the next five months. As for the future, no decision has been made on who will stay and who will leave.”

Allegri switched the focus back on Cagliari: “We are always optimistic, but we already dropped too many points. That is why we have it will be a key game. It was not easy to best Bologna, and the Sardinians are better than what they showed in the last two bouts.”

The gaffer updated on some players: “Dybala, Giorgio Chiellini, and Federico Chiesa will be fine for December 30th. Danilo and Aaron Ramsey might need a little longer. I am happy with how Dejan Kulusevski and Moise Kean fared Saturday.”
